Delete your Matu account

1. Delete from inside the app (preferred)

This is the fastest and most complete way:

1. Open Matu on your phone.
2. Tap the Profile tab (bottom navigation bar).
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
4. Confirm in the bottom sheet that appears. Once you confirm, deletion is immediate and irreversible.

We sign you out, remove your record from our database, and cascade the deletion through every table that references your user ID — your prayer history, lock configuration, Bible notes and highlights, AI memories, chat messages, and conversation summaries are all removed in the same operation.

2. Web fallback (if you've lost access to the app)

If you've uninstalled Matu, lost your device, or otherwise can't reach the in-app delete option, email us:

Subject line: Delete my account. In the body, include:

• The email address linked to the account, if you linked one.
• The nickname you used in Matu, if you remember it.
• Approximately when you started using Matu.

We will identify your account from those details, delete it, and reply to confirm

3. Delete only specific data (without closing your account)

Open Matu → Profile → What Matu Remembers. From there you can:

• Swipe left on any individual memory to delete it.
• Use Clear all memories to wipe the companion's full memory layer in one action.

This removes what the AI companion has learned about you without touching your account, your Bible journal, your prayer history, or your subscription.

4. What gets deleted vs kept

When you delete your account, the following are removed immediately:

• Your profile (nickname, gender, age range, faith stage, struggles, goals, language)
• Your prayer-lock configuration (prayer times, list of locked apps)
• Your prayer-completion history and streak
• Your Bible notes, highlights, and bookmarked verses
• Every memory the AI companion has stored about you
• Your chat messages and conversation summaries
• Your push-notification token
• Your authentication identity (Supabase auth record)

The following may be retained, in a minimised or anonymised form, only where law requires it:

• Subscription and payment records — kept for the period required by Estonian and EU consumer-protection and tax law (typically up to 7 years), in an anonymised form where possible. We never receive your card details; the underlying payment record sits with Google Play and RevenueCat under their own retention rules.
• Diagnostic / server-access logs — rotated within 90 days. These contain only your user ID, the API endpoint, the timestamp, and the response status — never message content.

5. How long it takes

• In-app deletion — immediate. The data is gone the moment you confirm.
• Email request — we will process within 30 days, in line with GDPR Article 12. In practice it's usually the same week.
